Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press has reported that the New York Mets are prepared to offer Johan Santana a six-year contract extension worth more than $150 million upon his arrival in New York.

C.C. Sabathia would welcome expanded drug testing in baseball, according to an Associated Press report.

Hall Of Fame Game Will End After This Season
The Associated Press is reporting that the Hall of Fame Game, an annual tradition in Cooperstown, will end after this year's contest between the Cubs and Padres.
Officials say MLB decided keeping the game was too difficult because of the complexities of the schedule and "all its inherent challenges."
Yankees, Cano Close To Finalizing Deal
The Journal News has reported that the New York Yankees and second baseman Robinson Cano are very close to finalizing a four-year contract extension.
Cano is expected to have a physical to complete the agreement in New York either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Inge Expresses Anger Over Cabrera Trade
Detroit third baseman Brandon Inge is angry that the Tigers traded for Miguel Cabrera, according to the Associated Press.
He asked the Tigers to trade him following the acquisition of Cabrera, but a deal was never made and doesn't seem to be in the future.
"They're still trying to trade me, but I need to get ready for the possibility that I'm going to spring training with the Tigers," Inge told the AP Monday. "People have said or written, 'Take your $6 million and be happy sitting on the bench.' But money doesn't make me happy - playing baseball does."
Chamberlain Could Start '08 In Yanks' Bullpen
Despite rumors that he will begin the season in the Yankees' rotation, right-hander Joba Chamberlain could return to the bullpen to begin the 2008 season, according to the Associated Press.

The Associated Press has reported that former New York Yankees' second baseman Chuck Knoblauch agreed Monday to talk to a committee investigating drug use in baseball.
The committee issued a subpoena for Knoblauch recently after he failed to accept an invitation to testify.
Agent: Clemens' Longevity Built On Adjustments
Roger Clemens' agent released an 18,000-word report Monday to defend against allegations that his career rebounded around the time period he was accused of using performance-enhancing drugs, according to the Associated Press.
"Clemens' longevity was due to his ability to adjust his style of pitching as he got older, incorporating his very effective split-finger fastball to offset the decrease in the speed of his regular fastball caused by aging," the report claims.
Tigers' Granderson Could Get Long-Term Deal
The Detroit Free Press has reported that the Tigers have initiated talks with outfielder Curtis Granderson on a long-term contract extension.
Granderson won't be a free agent until after the 2011 season, but Detroit traded all of their centerfielder prospects this summer, increasing their need to keep Granderson around.
